Book Review - The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie SocietyThe Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Annie Barrows
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was our book club selection for this month and I know we're way behind the curve on it as this book has been way popular for several years.

I really dug it.

The story takes place right after WWII in England and the island of Guernsey. The clever part is that the story is told in letters and telegrams between a free spirited female author, her friends and many inhabitants of Guernsey.

Besides developing some wonderful characters and a full story, the book is a great history lesson on the occupation of Guernsey by the Germans during the war. The war stories are tragic and horrific. The relationships and the characters are warm and charming.

Really, really enjoyable.
