Maybe I Should Just Move There...

I've spent so much time in Tucson lately that I feel like I did actually move there. In the last month or so, there was Mark's house concert (and my subsequent kidnapping), the concert last Thursday night and I'm heading down there again on Friday.

It's all Norene's fault. She started this whole "Let's go to lots of concerts!" thing and it's out of control. We've seen Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson and John Fogarty, Mark Mulligan, Elvin Bishop, Buddy Guy and George Thorogood and next up is an Oak Ridge Boys show. The first two shows were in Phoenix but she's sneakily getting me to agree more and more on the Tucson venues.

Here's how the Oak Ridge Boys came about...

Norene, Rick, Loreen and I were having dinner at the casino sports bar before the show Friday. Norene was relaying a conversation she'd had with a co-worker about how she was done going to concerts for a while. The co-worker replied with something to the effect of "I'll believe it when I see it." Soon after that conversation, Norene saw an ad for the Oak Ridge Boys.

Now, here's where she got sneaky. When she was telling us the story she said something like, "...then I saw that the Oak Ridge Boys were playing the next night." I got sucked right in when I said, "You could have gotten me to come down for that. I've never seen them."

That's when she said, "It's next Friday."

Oh, she is so clever in her manipulative ways!

I checked my PDA and I didn't have anything booked (but I do have two things on Saturday so there can be no kidnapping this time). She checked the ticket prices and, with fees, it's only $40 a ticket. How can we say no to that?

So, it's back to Tucson for me. I can make the drive to Norene's in about 2 hours because I end up going about 85 on I-10. There are only three bends in the road, otherwise you don't even need to turn the wheel, just go straight. I'll bug out of work a little early then head back on Saturday AM.

Last Friday, I left her house at 6:50 AM and made it to work by 9. That's not too bad, considering my old commute could take up to an hour on a bad day. Maybe, I should start looking for property down there... ;-)
