Brunch at Grand Lux Cafe
My Chick Poker gang is too busy to actually play poker but we can make time for brunch. Our last outing was to Grand Lux Cafe which is at Scottsdale Fashion Square.
The restaurant looks very Cheesecake Factory with lots of gold and marble but it was nice and our booth was very spacious and comfortable. The same dude who created Cheesecake Factory also created Grand Lux Cafe which should have clued is in on a key thing.
The serving portions are huge.
Three of us opted for the Red Velvet Pancakes which they describe as Fluffy Buttermilk Pancakes with a Hint of Cocoa, Chocolate Chips and Cream Cheese Frosting.
What they didn’t tell you is that you should be sharing them with another person because there’s not way you can eat them all on your own. In fact, none of us could finish.
And, you’re going to want to eat them all because they are delish! It really was a hint of Cocoa, they really were fluffy and the chocolate chips were put in at just the right quantity. No false advertising and no need for syrup with the cream cheese frosting, either. I would go back just for this meal, day or night.
My companions also ordered a couple of Omelettes that looked really good. Lots of filling and nicely textured eggs. They were enjoyed.
I only have one complaint. If I’m going to pay $7-8-9 for a Champagne drink, the least they can do is use a glass bigger than a slim flute. Especially, if I’m drinking a Mimosa which has a good share of OJ in it.
Overall, our visit was a nice way to start a Sunday. It's hard to go wrong with good food with good friends.
