Concert Review - Kenny Chesney
Pabla, Tina, Carol and I went to the Chesney show on Tuesday. We met early and had a little party in the parking lot. These people just do things up right. Tina had a table, fancy tablecloth and plates, margarita pie...there was way too much food but it was all lovely. Sam and Elizabeth found us and hung for a while, too.
We got into the show and to our seats just as Pat Green was starting. He did a good job. I first heard of him when his song, Wave on Wave, came out. I dug it and I really like his new one, Babydoll. Gretchen Wilson was next and she rocked like only a down home country girl can. She played several tunes from her upcoming CD and I'm definitely picking it up.
Kenny made a grand entrance, floating in over the crowd on a big swing from the other side of the arena. He's just so fun to watch. You can tell he's just having a great time and is really appreciative of his fans. He hand slapped dozens of people from the stage and made eye contact with many more in the crowd.
It was a nice mixture of slow and fast songs. They even brought out the old blue chair which he sat in for that song. When it came time for When The Sun Goes Down, Uncle Kracker made a guest appearance. He was one of the opening acts for Kenny on the last tour. They rocked together for a couple of tunes and Gretchen came out with Kenny for a couple of more.
Pabla joined the Chesney fan club to get advance tickets and our seats were awesome! One section off the stage and less than 10 rows up.
Of course, it couldn't all be smooth sailing. We had three girly-girls in front of us. They were drunk and screaming and their clothes didn't fit (too tight) so they were constantly adjusting themselves. One of them stood up on her chair and Pabla made a move to push her which I blocked. The woman next to Pabla thought the push was a good idea, though.
When the lights came up, we found Pete and Kathy were in our section, too. Parrot Heads just end up phlocking together even when they don't try.
BTW, Renee did not make an appearance but Kenny is wearing one big, big gold wedding band!
