OK, This Was Weird, Too

One of my female friends needed a ride to work (one day only) so she asked a male co-worker who lives about a mile away if he would give her a lift.

His response: "I have to ask my wife if it's OK."

Um, 'kay. My friend is very happily married and has absolutely no designs on the guy so I don't get why there's an issue.

His final answer: "I can't because my wife said no."

WTF? Is his wife expecting they're going to do it in the car on the way into work? If they wanted to have a fling, and believe me that is so not in the realm of possibility, they could just go out on their lunch hour.

Kooky.

With apologies to Jimmy and the Parrots for paraphrasing their song title. I know there are a lot of people celebrating some pretty famous guy's birthday today but perhaps not the guy whom I would wish a most happy birthday to and give many thanks. In fact, just what people are doing to that other guy, now that I think about it. Yeah, it's that Jimmy Buffett dude. Today is his 66th birthday. Unlike the most devout of Parrot Heads, I have no idea how many Buffett shows I've been to. I'm not even sure which was my first one but I think it was after a Triple-A baseball game here in Phoenix. Jimmy played out on the field and we hung out in the stands and had a great time. Gosh, I can't even tell you the first Buffett song I heard or when that was either. Book Review - Nice Girls Don't Bite Their Neighbors

Nice Girls Don't Bite Their Neighbors by Molly Harper My rating: 4 of 5 stars Nice ending to Jane's story (though I suspect she will be in a supporting role in future books). Jane and Gabriel are finally going to get hitched now that the government is allowing vampires to marry. Of course, all does not go well. With a vindictive spirit haunting her house, a potential killer stalking Gabriel and trying to keep her Mom from taking over the wedding, one would think Jane has enough going on. Nope. Add in her reluctant but requested turning of a young vampire childe and the mix gets overwhelming. I love these characters and I hope Harper includes them in her next books which look to center around a newly introduced character in this one. View all my reviews

I can't recall the last four days in a row off from work that I've had that didn't revolve around a trip, a family event or being sick as a dog. Maybe never. But, I did last weekend and it was glorious! The 4th of July is a work holiday and several departments were encouraging their people to take the 3rd off as well. We all knew it was going to be a slow day. I thought, "Why the heck not?" and marked myself down for vacation. My plan was simple. Reading and sleeping. I started with Friday night. After a couple of beers with Steven, I headed home and hit a book for a while. I then stayed up clearing shows off my DVR before heading to bed to read some more. Saturday was a wake up, read between doing laundry and watching some more TV. Sunday was great because there was no laundry. Just books, a nap and TV.
