PHINS Saturday

I woke up Saturday morning feeling remarkably chipper. Norene was surprised I got out of bed at 8ish but I had a club leaders' meeting at 9 to go to. Drank 6 glasses of water by the time the meeting was over which was a smart thing (and so unlike me on these weekends).

The meeting was good - all news about PHINS to the West, its past, present and future. It's very cool to see a bunch of clubs get together to help out and the event's raised a lot of money for the local community. Good stuff, Maynard.

After the meeting, I hooked up with the O'Malley Babes and Liz and we had pizza for breakfast then hung around to shoot the shite with Angel, Bob, Roger and Todd. Until, that is, they all had to run off for their favorite activity that couldn't possibly be more boring to me, the Slot Tournament. ho hum

I headed out to the mini-mart area where our club members were shilling product and asked Norene for the room key so I could change into my bathing suit since it was damn hot out there. She asked me to get her cell phone for her while I was upstairs. Got up to the room, changed then looked for the phone. And looked some more. And some more. I went through all of her stuff, the dresser drawers... I came back downstairs and told her, "Apparently, I'm too stupid to find the phone." At which point she put her hand up to her mouth in an 'oopsie' way and told me she'd hid her purse. Information that would have been helpful before I tore everything up. Oh well, I was off the hook and out to the pool.

We were all hanging in and on the side of the pool which had one disadvantage. We were too far from the beer. I played the Princess a few times and got people "while they were up" to get them for my posse and even made a run or two myself. It was a great way to pass the afternoon.

We all headed off to shower and change with the plan to meet at the Sports Book bar to watch the Suns/Lakers game. What a riot! We were all standing around the smallish bar cheering on the Suns until half time, went off to the buffet for dinner, then came back to find the Suns up by 30. Yahoo! The Suns had a confirmed win and it was time to go back to the Pavilion for more music.

Amy Lee (looks like she's flirting with Jer and who could blame her?)

Amy Lee (formally of the Coral Reefer Band) was playing with Stars on the Water. They guys were all drooling over her, especially with her dress (shirt, tunic?). The big topic of discussion was what she was wearing underneath. I believe bike shorts was the most common answer. They rocked the house!

Friday night, I'd been a back of the room person but Saturday, I was a front and center girl. I dragged Gary and Scott both out there at different times and hung with my Utah, LA, Idaho and Oregon friends in addition to the AZ crowd. There's a story here that I can't tell but let's just say thank God for Julie who saved me from a particularly uncomfortable situation. God Bless the Wingman!

At some point, relatively early in the evening, Troy and Shannon disappeared. He did get his chest autographed by Amy Lee but I'm not sure how much more of the evening he remembers. Troy, it's a marathon...

Sprinter

Boat Drunks played after Stars and the musical highlight was when everyone jammed together: Stars, Drunks and Amy. It was later in the evening and a lot of people had left but they missed the best part of the show.

Gary and I again closed the Pavilion down then did some gambling. If you can call it that. It was more like just handing the casino my money. At some point during the evening, I decided I just couldn't take another Corona (the $1.50 special) so I switched to Gary's drink choice of rum and diet. Seemed like a good idea but wasn't really. If I'd switched to Miller Lite, I could have kept going a lot longer and wouldn't have been "Drunk off my a**" as I announced to Norene when I got back to the room around 2, 3? Gary probably remembers better than I.
