This was our book club selection this month. I put the wrong date on my calendar so I missed the meeting. Doh! So, I don't know how the others liked this but I thought it was an interesting read.

I'm far from a foodie so most of the dishes Bourdain talked about were unfamiliar to me. But, the stories of the people he's worked with over the years made it an interesting tale. As did Bourdain's personal history.

It's a sordid tale of drugs, alcohol, sexual misconduct, theft, envy and avarice. I couldn't tell if Bourdain truly regretted his own behavior or if he was actually proud of it.

I can't recall the last four days in a row off from work that I've had that didn't revolve around a trip, a family event or being sick as a dog. Maybe never. But, I did last weekend and it was glorious! The 4th of July is a work holiday and several departments were encouraging their people to take the 3rd off as well. We all knew it was going to be a slow day. I thought, "Why the heck not?" and marked myself down for vacation. My plan was simple. Reading and sleeping. I started with Friday night. After a couple of beers with Steven, I headed home and hit a book for a while. I then stayed up clearing shows off my DVR before heading to bed to read some more. Most of 2020 sucked. But, there were some good moments that made memories to cling to. I'm going to review some of those moments from each month. (Disclaimer - my memory isn't what it used to be so this is my story and I'm sticking to it regardless of reality.) I moved into my house in May of 2019 and it was already hot out so I used the Arizona summer as an excuse not to do anything to my patio or yard. I don't recall what excuse I used to justify ignoring the both in the fall and winter. Let's go with complete laziness. It's entirely plausible. However, I had to get on the stick and pretty it up because I had a bunch of company scheduled for the spring. The first thing I did was get some inexpensive chairs from Target for my beat up table. There's A Reason For The Nickname...

Sugar Daddy's last day at work for the year was last Thursday. I brought his Christmas present to work but left it in my car because it was kind of bulky. This is what I got him: It's an R2-D2 voice activated robot. My friend Chris has one and it's really cool. He moves, he beeps, he reacts when you mention character names and dances while playing the cantina music. I told him his present was in the car and he said mine was in his car. We headed out at the end of the day to do the exchange. I had R2 wrapped up and the batteries in a gift bag for him. He had boxes for me. Boxes and boxes and boxes. I'm not entirely sure of the specifics but he said they were birthday presents and Christmas presents from last year that he didn't give me. There were four big unwrapped boxes.
